Wheelchair Ramp for Front Door

Having a wheelchair ramp for your front door can lead to a number of problems

The 1st problem is when your house is directly on to the pavement with no front garden or even a very short garden leading on to a public pavement or highway.

It is very unlikely the highways authority or your local council will allow a permanent ramp so you are left with little option other than using a portable wheelchair ramp which you set up as and when required and immediately take back down again so as not to obstruct the highway.

The Best Portable Wheelchair Ramp

When you have a large enough front garden or drive for any type of ramp your next consideration is who will be using it?

When you have a small portable ramp at the back of your property you can be pretty sure it will only be you or members of your household who will ever use it.

The problem with a ramp being at the front of your property either at your front door or side door even, is that members of the public may also use it, for instance postmen, paperboys, delivery drivers, general visitors, etc.

If you put a small temporary ramp down and a member of the public trips and falls on it you may find you are held liable for any injuries.

Your choice really is a portable ramp as above which you do not leave unattended or a ramp that you are sure is safe to be left unattended and ideally is compliant to building regulations.
